Might as well face it. You’re addicted to coffee. But are getting the most out of your coffee experience?
Most people will unknowingly pour themselves a cup of joe and right away start adding the usual cream or sugar without even trying it first!
(If you are somewhere like Starbucks that you know makes it the same every time and you know how you like it, then that is understandable, but……)
- *TRY IT FIRST! Every cup of coffee tastes different! Then add any additional flavoring if you must.
You never know you just MIGHT like the taste black coffee from the diner down the road….saving you extra calories and sugar from your daily routine. And even if it does need a little sprucing up try it again after just a little sugar, then again after some creamer…see if you like it without taking the whole coffee taste away right off the bat.
- *Pick the right time. Most people will drink coffee from 8-9AM which is actually the WORST time for it!
Our bodies produce cortisol which naturally caffeinates us even if we do not feel awake. Cortisol levels lower around 9:30-11:30AM and again around 1:30PM-5:30PM, making those windows prime time to actually feel the caffeine! Allowing you to use that to get through your workday!
- *Save your leftovers. Remember the time before Keurig’s existed?
Don’t pour out the old coffee from this morning! Put it in ice trays and then use them for the next time you make iced coffee! These cubes won’t water it down!
- *Quit “Kueriging.” Even the founder regrets making them.
Not only are they terrible for the environment, the hidden water tank can actually grow mold and is not easy to clean out. Not to mention that the K-Cups are packed with stale coffee.

- *Your Frappuccino isn’t fooling anyone. It’s not coffee and we know it.
Switch to some dark roast. Frappuchinos can contain as much sugar as a liter of Coca-Cola! Even if you choose a lower sugar content, think about how much coffee is ACTUALLY in there.
Hopefully you will be able to use a few of these tips in your daily routine to get the most out of your coffee experience and to also improve your heath in the office and at home.
