7 Things To Add To Your Resume

7 Things To Add To Your Resume

You may think that your resume is perfectly organized at the moment, but make sure you include these key ingredients to make your resume shine! You surely do not want to leave out any details that could help land you that job!

  1. *Professional Website or Blog

If you design websites or blog make sure you put the actual websites down on your resume to showcase your skills!

  1. *Social Media Accounts

ONLY IF THEY WILL HELP YOU NOT HURT YOU! And what we mean by that of course is to only add the sites that you would be proud to show an employer. Not the bachelorette party you went to last weekend that’s all over Facebook. (Most employers will check your Facebook, Twitter or even your Instagram accounts) LinkedIn is a good site to have on your resume so that even if you don’t get hired you can still connect with industry professionals.

  1. *Freelance Projects

Millions of Americans are freelancing! Create a new bullet for any freelance work that you’ve done in the past and mention clients you have helped. Your work is “that” good that they hired you as an individual, on your own to get the job done, so why not gloat about it?

  1. *Awards or special recognition

Any way that you stood out from the rest of the crowd deserves a special spot on your resume. From graduating with honors in college to being employee of the month, or top salesman of the year.

  1. *Certifications

You spent the time and energy to get certified so put it on your resume! Especially if it is an industry specific software system or skill you’ve learned, this will separate you from the crowd of applicants and make you more hirable! Could even get you a higher pay rate too!

  1. *Side Projects

Do you have any hobbies that can apply to your job search? Publish a book or start your own business? Make sure to include these as long as they will not interfere with the job you are applying for. Activities that should not be put on a resume include gardening, being a mommy and an avid book reader.

  1. *Volunteer Work

From donating your time to the local food bank or the community church, all the way to coaching a sports team and even an unpaid internship can all help show just how involved and selfless you really are. This will help leave a good impression for hiring managers showing them that you are a natural leader.
