Well 2015 is finally here! If you usually do not make New Years resolutions personally try to make some professionally!
Here are some ideas to keep in mind….
Build your personal brand
Not your company brand. Your PERSONAL branding. If you have not thought about this yet, it’s time to start! Everything you do summarizes who you are as a person at home and in the workplace. How someone remembers you or their personal experience with you is your branding. You want to leave a good impression, right!? Start by defining your values, strengths, image, personality and expertise and strive to improve.
Become an Expert
Dedicate yourself to becoming an expert in your field. There are tons of industry trends and practices that are available online for you to read up on and stay current. Any type of career education can be accomplished whether you want to simply conquer LinkedIn, learn how to master Microsoft Mail Merges or go back to school and finish that degree.
Get a Raise
Although many budgets still do not allow for wage increases, there are still ways to get more money. Look for lateral moves that may require more skill development. Making the move may give you a boost in salary and an opportunity to advance your skills.
Boost your teams Profile
If you are a manager, one way to build your careers is to build up your team. The better your team looks the better it makes you look as a manager!
Be Specific
If your new Years resolution was “to be happier at work” that’s not specific (or realistic) enough! Pin point areas that you want to work on and make it happen!
Be Realistic
Try to make your resolutions achievable. If you set too high of goals and do not make them then you might think you are a failure. However, small steps towards a bigger picture will get you there!
Overall, the new year is a fresh start for most people. Let’s make sure 2015 is filled with happiness doing whatever is necessary to get there.
