Workplace Worries

*Fear:  A distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid. Something that causes feelings of dread or apprehension; concern or anxiety.

*Phobia:  A persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it.

Patiently awaiting your annual performance review or a simply meeting with a new client can cause that uneasy feeling we all know too well.

Making even the smallest mistake at work can induce panic.

Careerbuilder.com held a recent survey and to find out what employees get nervous about.

Whether you want to admit it or not we all fear something.

**26% agreed that getting yelled at by the boss sticks out the most.

**23% said that forgetting to set the alarm or being late comes in second.

**Meetings in general, presentations and /or public speaking all falls closely together.

**15% said that accidently hitting “reply all” to an email that was meant to be sent privately is frightening!

**And surprisingly only 9% said that getting caught visiting an inappropriate website bothered them.

So I started to wonder what my co-workers get scared about and even some of my own fears that bother me. -Does it scare anyone else when you close out of an important document and the pop up says “Do you want to save your changes?” and you swear you didn’t edit a single sentence?

Losing important documents, forgetting to complete a task, having a client think poorly of you or your company, getting into an intense conversation with a co-worker and even showing up to work in jeans when it is not casual Friday are all responses I received when I asked the question to my peers.

So tell me, are you a victim of workplace anxiety? What keeps you up at night?
